Magazine covers. The birth of a new buzzword. A flood of start-ups. We all know when a new technology is having its arrival moment, and about five years ago, 3D printing was going to transform everything.
All the while we enjoyed our Star Wars figure desk toys we were reading about 3D printed blood vessels, houses and pizza. The movement seemed set to shift the sands beneath the whole manufacturing field, letting the consumer produce anything and everything.
