Google’s famous mantra at its 1998 formation was “Don’t be evil”, and the company’s stock is now worth more than McDonald’s, General Motors and Disney combined. Did the search giant really get that successful following its original credo?
Concern about data collection by search engines is a mainstream issue. It’s made more disturbing when Google profiles search users based on their previous history. That means you’ll get different results from someone else who searches for the same thing, which in turn means they know what you’ve been searching for.
